Antoher reason why the real estate market in Palo Alto continues to lead the valley is that the API scores lead the Silicon Valley as well!

Possible API scores range between 200 to 1000 for state-wide Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) and California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE).
Key Findings for the Palo Alto School District (PAUSD):
- PAUSD had an increase in average API scores from 926 (in 2011) to 934 (in 2012)
- PAUSD continues to rate as one of the top ten K-12 school districts in California.
- Herbert Hoover (995), Terman Middle School (947), Jordan Middle School (947), Henry H. Gunn High School (920), and Palo Alto High School (920) rank in the 50 top performing schools in California for their school type.
